Advantech Solutions has an urgent need for a SATOPS Tier 3 technician who provides support to the USSOCOM J6 for the tracking, troubleshooting, and coordination for all things satellite communications (SATCOM) systems related to the environment, topology and architecture of tactical systems supporting deployed users. Job duties involve the operation of mission-critical management tools that require expertise beyond a Tier 1 and 2 technician’s level of knowledge and skill. The position requires versatility in the Tier 2 duties, iDirect technologies and methodologies, and subject matter expertise in the management tools and platforms currently supporting the SDN Operations Center. Additionally, the SATOPS Tier 3 technician must thoroughly understand the SDN transport topology, asset and resource management, employed technologies, operating procedures, and policy. The SATOPS Tier 3 technician participates in mission planning, conferences, and document writing involving SATCOM systems as the customer requires. The SATOPS Tier 3 technician is part of a team that ensures effective SATCOM network utilization and network monitoring of SATCOM tactical resources. The SATOPS Tier 3 technician may be required to telephonically work on priority issues after normal work hours. The duty schedule for this position is a 5-day work week (Monday through Friday), 8 hours per day. The 5-day work week may include some nights/weekends and/or holidays and will include travel. The position is located at MacDill AFB, FL, and may require some travel to meet mission requirements.
Primary & Essential Accountabilities:
- Kratos SatMonics Spectrum Management Platform Installation and Administration
- Database configurations of SatMonics
- Calibration and auditing of SatMonics database as required
- Troubleshooting SatMonics issues
- Manage site antenna and equipment at one site
- Travel to one overseas site quarterly
- Perform network analysis to record network health
- Build network topology maps within Solarwinds
- Contribute to operational planning and improvement by developing new policies and procedures
- Keep the Site Lead informed on operational issues, troubleshooting efforts, and solutions
- Work with planners and Tier 3 technicians on Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) coordination and execution, network investigations, network changes, reports, etc.
- Assist iDirect Tier 3 SMEs in testing and evaluating systems and network configurations.
- Assist iDirect Tier 3 SMEs in VSAT terminal characterization
- Assist iDirect Tier 3 SMEs in engineering support
- Assist iDirect Tier 3 SMEs with daily operational support of iDirect Technologies hubs and remote systems as necessary.
- Participate in researching, evaluating, and selecting new SATCOM management technologies.
- Prepare reports documenting utilization levels, failure rates, or other statistical reports as directed.
- Analyze complex communication systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
- Resolve difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms, including e-mail, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing, and the like
- Configure systems to user environments
- Support acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services
- May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower-level employees
- May provide written technical descriptions and contribute to the development of technical solutions in support of proposal efforts

- Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Common knowledge of the SATCOM Special Operations Forces Tactical Assured Connectivity System (SOFTACS) and Product Distribution System (PDS) family of terminals (FoT).
- Candidate must have a Top Secret (TS) Clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Must have 8750 IAT II certification or obtain within 3 months after beginning work in the position.
