Advantech Solutions has an urgent need for a Global NOSC Tier 2 Technician in Tampa, FL! This will be a direct hire/permanent position supporting a defense contractor client. The position supports a Global Network Operations Security Center (Global NOSC) from Tampa, FL, and its Continuity of Operations (COOP) Center in Dulles, VA. Each member of the Global NOSC team plays an integral part in incident management while proactively managing a global network 24x7x365. The Global NOSC team must maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of user technology products and services. These functions include IT Support Levels (Tiers), which ITILv4 defines as Level 2/Tier 2 functions.
The Global NOSC Tier 2 Technician will execute in-depth technical support functions on multiple complex end-to-end global networks comprised of satellite teleports, commercial gateways, data centers, terrestrial fiber circuits, and terrestrial microwave radios utilizing ticketing and network monitoring tools. Global NOSC operates its own MPLS Network called Global Communications Network (GCN) for the safe transport of our customer’s data. The Global NOSC Tier 2 Technician will be required to monitor the network to find anomalies and resolve issues before service interruption and provide solutions to problems that cannot be managed by Tier 1 Technicians, and escalate support to the highest technical resources available for resolution.
Primary & Essential Accountabilities:
- Activate and authorize remote satellite terminal access, including Peak and Pol alignment of satellite terminals.
- Experience with Frequency Spectrum Management using Kratos MONICS carrier monitoring
- Familiar with the Satellite Access Request Process
- Monitor and/or respond to satellite Coordinate internally and with Satellite Operators to resolve these issues as required.
- Plan communications networks by operational
- Monitor all elements of TDMA and SCPC satellite links at various commercial satellite teleports, backhaul terrestrial fiber optic circuits, and Microwave LOS networks.
- Provide option files and configuration capabilities for multiple iDirect
- Ability to transmit and receive required documentation, outage notifications, link budgets, via Classified systems.
- Monitor all elements of the Global Communications Network (GCN) and work with various data centers, Teleports, and terrestrial vendors.
- Disseminate information regarding planned maintenance performed by terrestrial vendors and commercial Teleports, report status, and monitor usage for the security of our customers’
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve product-related issues resulting from installation, software and hardware upgrades, configuration changes, and equipment integration or testing.
- Open, track, escalate (if required), and close related trouble tickets for all the above
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to each customer/end-user for primary and COOP Operations Center locations.
- Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Work with various internal engineering teams to store and update technical documentation related to all networks.
- Field after-hours IT calls, reset passwords for authorized users, and assist with resolving customer issues.

Qualification Requirements:
- Associate degree in wireless communication, network engineering, computer science, or related field with at least 4 years of progressively complex network systems engineering experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
- Security + certification is required or ability to obtain within 180 days of
- Network + certification is required or ability to obtain within 365 days of
- Proven experience and expertise in satellite and network troubleshooting, exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment with end users and all levels of
- Candidate must have experience managing and supporting iDirect hub solutions, TCP/IP to include general networking concepts, and SATCOM/RF concepts.
- Knowledge of current IT systems/platforms, operating systems, applications, and security
- Ability to guide and mentor newly hired technicians and provide continual
- Active S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance level is required; TOP SECRET SCI Eligible is preferred.
Preferred Qualification:
- Prior SATCOM Network Operations Center or Security Operations Center experience preferred
- iDirect TDMA, HughesNet, IPoS certifications, Comtech SLM5650B, and/or ViaSat MD1366 experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office suite and applications
- IP routing and switching-related certifications in the areas of Juniper or Cisco network interface technologies.
- Use various trouble ticketing systems like Science Logic SL1, ServiceNow, etc.
- Use spectrum monitoring tools such as SatMonics, etc.
- Use network monitoring tools such as What’s Up Gold, SolarWinds,
